Gayl, This is interesting. You are doing monthly loans correct? I have seen a weird behavior before, especially near the end of the month, where months get skipped. Essentially, however the schedule works out, a payment can't fall on the expected date and there is no acceptable date afterwards, so it gets pushed by another month. This is generally an edge case though.
Not sure that December 26th would apply, but it might. Can you share the terms of the loan so we can try to recreate on another instance?
