I am not in favor of sticking with simple permissions either in long run, we don't have access level control framework configure (Spring-ACL). I said this is big task, not that we won't do it. the challenge is "can we add DOB/name field in edit form for now and release" and later take on the big chunk as configurable edit forms and refactoring permission framework to support fine grain access configuration. I am trying to get is that can we live with not having permission to control fields in the release. if we have to have permission then we should take on the big chunk and fix things in code.
