I had actually looked at this, when Nirantara mentioned it. Just making it editable is trivial of course; http://mifos.git.sourceforge.net/git/gitweb.cgi?p=mifos/head;a=commitdiff;h=d0fcc66a6a194b4ec42b1567eb9adbe782f52981 has where I tried this (please delete branch hudsonBuild-MIFOS-5093_DateOfBirthEditable should you pull that in).
Note that http://mifosforge.jira.com/browse/MIFOS-3836 is open for this (with http://mifosforge.jira.com/browse/MIFOS-5093 a, partial, duplicate). In JIRA (and related older list thread about this) there is something a duplicity check - forget about that as well? I have also played with introducing an additional permission ("Edit Active Client Data of Birth") the other night, but I take it that's off the table then?
