Hi Maya, The value of the "financial-year-beginning-month" is used to calculate interest calculation on the savings account, they have no bearing on the reports AFAIK.
The Pentaho reports run on query and also on editing the reports they seem to fail in receiving the DB credentials, probably that is why the edited reports are empty. Lastly if the start-date and end-date are provided the financial reports are generated according to those dates and so any range of dates can be provided for generating reports. And to disallow creating entries after a specific date the feature of Closing Entries exists under Accounting.
