What have you seen, real world, in switching these units?
I have some MIPS units (450G, 493G) that are pushing up to 50%+
consistent CPU usage with some spikes to 100%. They don't seem to be
having a huge issue processing packets now but I'm planning on expanding
this segment of the network pretty aggressively and I'd rather be
proactive in upgrading.
I'd like to stay with prebuilt Mikrotik hardware for the time being but
I'm not totally opposed to using x86 if I have to - some sites can get
pretty hot though. I wish Mikrotik would release a downloadable MIPS
build so I could put it on some stronger hardware.. or a higher end box.
680MHz -> 800MHz doesn't seem like a lot, but for those of you who've
made the jump, do you get a lot more juice out of an RB1100?
