You could have 10,000 vehicles traveling south and 1,000 vehicles traveling north. Some vehicles may be motorcycles, some may be Mega Buses.

If the average number of people per vehicle is 2 then you have 20,000 people traveling south, and 2,000 people traveling north (10:1). Therefore the ratio of packets should be fairly close to the ratio of bytes. Where does this scenario go wrong?
