If you're trying to find a 'perfect culture' you MUST know that
cultures change over time in order to allow for adaptation to new
stimuli from the environment, if nothing else. If you could crack the
code of the language of the Indus River valley, you might find some
clues. Their cities seemed to have no palaces or temples, indicating
they lived without major politics and/or religion and the troubles
that go with them. Perhaps it was THEIR culture that had made the
deal with God in the Sumerian Flood story. That is, at the end of the
Sumerian Flood myth, God strikes a bargain with man concerning any
subsequent floods (unlike the Bible story that just ends with God
flatly promising NOT to do it again): In order to avoid future
flooding, Man agreed to practice birth control and live within the
means of the planet. Whoops, it seems we've failed on both counts.
If there IS a perfect culture, I think the Indus River Valley people
seem to have had it. So, perhaps we should turn to ancient Pakistani
culture???
