There's a difference between the aura about which DcBay is talking
about and an epileptic aura. Similar for migraine 'auras'. The term
aura is used, medically, to denote a group of symptoms that occur just
prior to either a migraine or an epileptic seizure. These sets of
symptoms can vary but can be used to notice that a migraine or seizure
is coming and the person may be able to take prophylactic medication
to prevent the actual attack. Confusion can come in when, during a
medical aura, a patient seems to see spiritual auras.

I believe that DcBay is probably talking about spiritual auras
rather than medical auras. The spiritual aura is that supposed
subtle, luminous radiation surrounding living things. The 'thing'
that wsa supposed to be being 'seen' in Kirlian photography but is,
really, a depiction of a strong electric field.

For those interested (DcBay, I suppose), I've been told my aura
is violet (yes, that's violet NOT violent). But, the stories have it
that colour can vary over time given differing stimuli and stress
levels. Not too much different, then, than the galvanic skin response
monitored by polygraphs or, for that matter, the small thermal changes
that were picked up by the old 'mood-rings'. But, as of yet, no one
has discovered a substantiable aura-reader, that is, one who can,
reliably, tell the difference between a man and a mannekin in a blind
test. This, of course, prooves nothing about auras themselves but
says more about the methodologies of con-artists. Until someone can
come up with a scientific basis for the existence of auras, for which
I won't be holding my breath, I expect they'll remain a mystery
feature of human experience.
For the record, though, I know of no hard evidence against them,
either. But one question strikes me: if they exists, what purpose do
they serve? If they are supposed to be a visable aspect of an
individual to help indicate mood to others, then they don't work very
well because most people don't see them. If they are there as another
'field-effect' of a field of spiritual energy, then, the more
important questions are how is a field of spiritual energy conformed
and, how does it maintain coherence? I would expect that any flux in
'spiritual coherence' would, naturally, display itself as an
interference pattern. That pattern may well be a 'spiritual aura' or
be reflected IN a 'spiritual aura' but, as of yet, it hasn't been
seriously investigated (like most claims that might lead to science
discovering and having to admit 'God' or 'spirit' as an answer, which
is that unwritten dictat that governs what science investigates).
