Sadly, Nom, your take seems to be correct and chaz has, apparently, been banned. I, for one, would like to know why? We discussed this issue here pretty comprehensively last summer when the group was plagued by a couple of ignorant trolls, who were given a great deal of leeway before, following a lot of posts on the issue, including repeated appeals to the persons involved to amend their behaviour,, after repeated warnings, they were finally banned. I had no problems with these particular decisions, not seeing them as censorship, rather as an inevitable reaction of a healthy immune system within the group.
A banning of chaz, on the other hand, is something I would protest very strongly about. (Moderators, if chaz has been banned, please register this as a fomal protest.) chazwin is frequently grumpy, occasionally abusive, sometimes offensive. Often I don't agree with his position - but this is the same with almost everyone else who posts here. Now and again he manages to get into a flame war (mostly with Pat). But he is certainly not a troll and most of his posts are constructive contributions to discussions. If he reminds me of anyone, it's Diogenes of Sinope. So, what gives, Craig, Chris, Ian (Pottsie)? Has chaz been banned? And, if so, why?
