Yes it was.  When first established by Fr. Flanagan in Omaha, it was a
privileged place for real orphans and street boys.  By the time I
arrived in 1955, it was a privileged place for those who could afford
to pay for that privilege.  Especially the sports and choir minded.
Boy's Town's football team was so tough that it was banned from the
Nebraska state tournaments.  They used to travel the country finding
other teams to play and received a lot of money for that privilege.

BT's choir was much the same.  They were world renowned and traveled
the world giving concerts.  During my time at BT if you weren't in the
choir or playing sports you were nothing.  I did neither.  My
graduating yearbook entry is one line.
