Grandmother....this evokes a memory. As a kid, I remember looking at my grandmother...with white hair, wrinkles etc....and for the first time realizing that she was getting old and would die.
So, I asked her: "Grandma, aren't you afraid to die?" (projecting my own concern of course) Her response was transforming for me..."No...I've lived a full life...and I am ready for it when the time comes." What a gift! ...truth is she lived another 30 or 40 years...to 103. Sensing that she was holding on for some reason at that point, I sent a letter sharing my memory of the above story with my gratitude and telling her she could let go. She did, that week.
