A day or so ago, I ignobly dumped a link to a very recent, coherent and historically accurate analysis of where we are and how we got here by Noam Chomsky as an aside in a different topic. It deserves its own topic and a place for people to discuss it.
Regardless of opinions about Noam, his historical analysis is flawless. His view on how the world works is fresh, recognizable and not heard in the main stream media, for good reason. You may/may not agree with his conclusions. Yet, his vision is massive and strikes a large chord of reality in the hearts and heads of most humans, if they are not too impaired by propaganda yet.
