There is the Hindu practice of suttee which I presume has been
outlawed- or has it? I suppose all religions/cultures have their
methods of dealing with widows and divorcees. Wasn't the woman who was
stoned- was it to death?-I forget- in "Zorba the Greek" a widow?//What
if the husband has no legacy? Must the woman return to her father?
America claims to have "gay divorcees" but many widows and divorcees
simply retreat from the world unless she must protect her children and
suffer dealing with dads in the neighborhood or at school when
problems arise. Fot that, she wears an invisible "hat".
