I use my pen name which is actually my family name. Traditionally, Molly is the nickname given to the oldest girl in an Irish family with the name Mary. As rigsy suggests, over the years, I have had a few name changes thanks to two marriages, so I may be hard to keep up with, as I have had journal and magazine articles published in all of them. I chose to use Molly Brogan when I began to publish in book form, and have stuck to it with most related to my writing. Professionally, I use my legal name and this has been confusing at times. I was never so bold as to use a man's name, although pants are much more comfortable than pantyhose (something I think women should protest.)
