I still have XP on one of my lappers and Vista on the other. Windows
7 is really a Vista Fix supposedly to enhance the Vista OS which had
it's share of problems. Basically it is a streamlined version, less
taxing on the system. I haven't upgraded to Windows 7 because I want
to wait for more reviews. I can tell you that I don't really use XP
anymore and found that Vista is better, service pack 2 of course, but
if you write a lot you should go with it and make sure you have the
latest version of Windows Office, the Word programs are really much
better, more versatile and easy to use .

Product summary

The good: Strong design and Microsoft don't always go together, but
they do in Windows 7. Users might take a while to get used to the new
taskbar and Aero Peek, but they're a pleasure to use.

The bad: Performance is still hit-or-miss in Windows 7. At the ripe
age of seven, Windows XP still performs better in some categories.

The bottom line: Windows 7 is more than what Vista should have been,
it's where Microsoft needed to go. How much damage Vista did and
whether Windows 7 is enough for people to finally abandon Windows XP
are questions that nobody has the answers to right now.

So this is why I'm waiting to upgrade, personally I think they should
give it to me free after duping me into thinking their Vista OS was
the newest, grandest thing ever.

This is how I think Bill Gates has come to be worth billions, by
producing software that is consistently under par and then selling
people the fixes. Next one for me is going to be a Mac. I'm tired of
Microsoft's games.

Remember that much of your XP programs wont work on Vista or 7, there
are many compatibility issues. I'm sure some gurus in here may be
able to offer more info to help you decide.

Good Luck!
