Many religions are human centric, rather than God centric. Meaning,
belief in God is a choice, without having much effect on religion as
such.

I am not sure what you mean by 'just a psychological aid'. But going
by your next statement, imo, God is that for which one believes in
God, and not necessarily just a psychological aid.
