Hey, it's OK by me, I'm an American ex-pat. Well, that is, I live in England now, but grew up in the States...and my name is, still, Pat, even thought I'm an ex-pat. ;-) Great combination, but how did it become American, I wonder. while potatoes and tomatoes are both indigenous to the Americas, "French fries" are, by definition, French and catsup (ketchup) is an Anglicised Chinese word (from "ke-chiap"). Just shows how America is a melting pot of food, as well, I suppose. > On 5/6/2010 5:08 AM, Pat wrote: > > > > > > > On 6 May, 05:43, Slip Disc<[email protected]> wrote: > > >> Is this your insidious attempt at insulting a very important Mexican > >> celebration? > >> I think your post is nothing more than racist commentary based on > >> ignorance of the actual celebration of independence, "Cinco De Mayo" > >> which anyone with a smidgen of a brain knows is the recognition of > >> Mexican independence from France achieved at the battle of Puebla > >> which took place in 1862 during the month of May and on the 5th day of > >> the month. > >> You purport yourself as the enlightened one and then proffer garbage > >> such as this.
