Maybe your wife hates formal philosophy. I did and my prof's face once turned red as I impaled the existence of angels. I like ill-logic sometimes if it has wit and humor.
Does the world turn on philosophy/religion or machines/technology? Does the USA export an idea(s) or need weapons/bribes to force an outcome. What will all those revolutionaries in the ME do when the revolution is over? Where is their agriculture and industry? What about water- that issue will far outsurpass oil. The news is filled with philosophical conundrums. Maybe you are just so sweet to be around that life is bliss for your mrs.
