I think it's mostly a dopey meme (not on the sayer but on the populace). We're pretty much trained at birth to fall into the same old cultural traps that those before us have because they learned little from history, probably because most of it is taught as 'chronology'. If people were taught and exposed to exemplary discourse rich in critical assessment of authorities (on information) people would be a bit more tenacious in demanding less histrionics and more value for their dollar. I would like to have a board of scientists, ethicists, philosophers, sociologists running this country than some jackass the average joe would vote for. Even though I did vote for the current US prez, why the hell wouldn't they do a blood test or autopsy before getting rid of Osama?? I'd like to fuckin know it wasn't one of his crash dummies, it doesn't matter anyway, politics make me sick. I better stop now. ;-)

norm while the norm is reinforced with confirmation bias.

How can you expect governance unless you can control the population?
What else is new? :-)

Even a family needs order and control, doesn't it?

Don't you observe the order of nature? The routines of the natural
world serve a definite purpose. Eat or be eaten. :-)
