I think what's collapsing is our faith that the irrational system we've been in is no longer good enough but also suspect a more equally democratic economy has its own demons. I've spent many years trying to 'make' people economically literate but know I failed with all but my best students. I go for your targets rigsy, though I extend it to the rich generally. The big point of revolution is taking on the anti- democratic banks and their political minions. I mostly go along with the Boston Consulting Group analysis I linked to in other posts. We need some kind of 'debt jubilee' - but beyond this we have to understand that the nature of work that needs doing has changed and we need to change our ideas on motivation and the world beyond our nuclear interests. The actual big issue for me is the near tripling of the human population (mostly into poverty) in my life time.
