My cat is a goddess. One needs dogs to maintain the balance of power. When you put he, she or it together you get hesheorit, the technical term for rocking horse droppings (it works when you say it).
There are questions about whether god has free will. Once you are good and know everything, what choice is left? The Hindu urging is not towards fatalism - at least as I understand it in ignorance, trips to Wiki and chats with my mate Lal. The "saint", of course, is never free to choose, as she suffers no temptation to be bad. In western philosophy we tend to consider self-mastery (gender again) and rightly ordered appetite as a category of free will discussion - all categories being subject to optimism and pessimism. We have a female Bishop in Anglican stuff here. This is good, yet I see freedom in an absence of bishops. Freedom is freedom to and freedom from at the same time. The self is always late in time, weirdly disjointed from it. Many of our words suffer something similar.losing meaning in over-definition. "Choice" is presumably as aspect of free will, yet what choice is there when there are no alternatives, or false ones of a thousand channels of tat to "choose" from and the off button (maybe to never switch on again?) and chronically corrupt political parties to "vote for". We can choose to leave the human hive, but do we then survive as human? The ant and bee die. Omega pack animals put up with awful treatment rather than be isolated. What of the slave making free choices?
