Groups, as anyone who has been in a few business classes knows, form, storm, norm and perform and then dissolve. I forget the rest of this important material, not having taught it for a while, except norming is a bit like being on the same page as Gabby waiting for the storm to form to evade any performance. It would be good to actually hear more on topics from everyone else, but it is actually very difficult to get university classes doing that. There are few Gabbies about asking stuff like, 'Oi Prof how do you get to decide what old crap to throw up in front of us'? Which might be the question. The kids, of course, really just want you to teach answers and play with each other. They would rather be on mobile phones listening to their mothers. Most will need teaching to get the jokes in The Simpsons and South Park. We give them group work to give them some kind of understanding most of them are free-riders and get the smarter ones to do the teaching. I used to play that Morrison track in 'work motivation' and tell classes self-actualisation might come from smoking dope as a means to discuss the sweet joys of bureaucracy. We could open up to many questions here - Tony's statement we are going backwards has barely been addressed at all. I think we have been had by a system that prevents human debate in the public sphere. RP is right that India suffered (mostly British) colonisation and resource leeching. Drug running was a major part of this. Generally people have little clue on what history really is and how much COWDUNG they have soaked up.
