Check one of the latest gcc-4.7 builds in the "old" subdirectories. Those
have std::thread fully working.
I might build a new std::thread build sometime, but it will certainly end
up in "experimental". Last I heard, there were issues with Boost and win32
error codes in winpthreads (which I believe was fixed a bit after my last
"old" build).

That's a known "problem". Can't help you there except tell you to buy more
memory ;-) It's not GCC 4.7 specific anyway. If you don't need debug Qt
libs, do a "mingw32-make release".
