Here's my HOWTO for mingw-builds compilers and MSYS2:

1. Choose an MSYS2 (latest x32 or x64 version) from:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/msys2/files/Alpha-versions/

2. Install mingw-builds' MinGW-w64 GCC, run:
http://kent.dl.sourceforge.net/project/mingwbuilds/mingw-builds-install/mingw-builds-install.exe
and select the compiler that you want, and install it to somewhere in
your msys32 or msys64 file hierarchy, in my case, I extract to
C:\msys64, ending up with C:\msys64\mingw64

3. Run MSYS2 (e.g. C:\msys64\mingw_shell.bat) and in the command prompt enter:
nano ~/.profile
and add:
PATH=/mingw64:$PATH
(change this if you didn't extract install MinGW-w64 GCC to the root
of your msys32/msys64 folder, and of course also if you didn't install
the 64-bit mingw-builds' MinGW-w64 GCC)
Ctrl-X to exit nano, select to save the file.
(vim is also provided in the latest MSYS2 releases so use that if you prefer ..)

4. Exit MSYS2 with "exit", relaunch it, and test that gcc works.

Use git, svn, hg, gcc, autotools, nano, vim, Python and whatever else
is provided to write/download/build software.

ConsoleZ is also in there, the next release will have that working
nicer out of the box.

There's MSYS2 developer tarballs (
http://sourceforge.net/projects/msys2/files/developers/ ) for people
interested in helping out on MSYS2 itself or building other MSYS2
software. If you're not sure if you want to build MSYS2 software then
you probably don't want to build MSYS2 software and should stick to
building MinGW (i.e. native Windows) software.
