I have now checked a Vista and an XP SDK as well as the W7 and W8. Still 
no sign of intrin.h in winnt.h.

While I can't *prove* that no (possibly incremental) release of the 
Windows SDK has ever included this, I can say that none of the ones I 
have checked have it.

Saying "IIRC" suggests that perhaps your memory of this one line in this 
one file from ~8 year old software may not be correct.  So unless and 
until someone offers evidence to the contrary, I'm going to stand by my 
(amended) statement:

(Except for ARM which was added in W8) winnt.h doesn't include intrin.h.

While supporting ARM may be a good thing, I don't have the hardware for 
it.  And since the asm opcodes for ARM are different from i386, 
virtually all the intrinsics will need to be re-written.  Perhaps that's 
something that should wait until after v3.

At this point, I see no reason not to accept this lrotl patch.
