Just because I'm a daily git user, and I'm having a hard time doing anything 
beyond a mere check-out in svn. Again and again :) Just this morning I was 
searching for a semi-official github clone of Mingw-w64 ...

It obviously depends from what you know, but git really has established itself 
as 'the' versioning system in the open source world by now.

references to svn revisions all over the place.
