Hello mingw list --

I'm a total newbie to this list, and I'm not even sure it's active, but
I've googled a lot and can't find much information so I thought I'd try a
post here.

I'm porting a large, unix-ey c/c++ package to Windows and I'm attempting to
compile a static lib that I can access in Visual Studio. For standard C
functions (even in c++ files), the lib (.a) I build with mingw works with
no problems.

However, once I try to use some more c++ features, I get the following
error, and it seems to be associated with the compiled object files
themselves:

"invalid or corrupt file: no symbol for COMDAT section ..." (and a hex
address).

I've tried a number of different compilation flags, both in the mingw build
and the Visual Studio IDE, but no luck. I'm worried that there is a
fundamental incompatibility between g++ and MSVC. I wish there were an
option for "nm" or a libtool that would help me fix this.

Any ideas?

thanks --
