Yes, U-Boot still works.

No, I think there is no ecc/nand issue - it is just that the 2.6 kernel is too 
big for the partition and/or only
partially copied to flash. Therefore the attempt to load but CRC fails.

For the l400 there is no separate uImage. They did change something and 
everything (kernel, rootfs etc.) appears to be part of a big .rec file.

That is good just to get the binary kernel. I will give it a try.

Another problem with these recovery files is that there are small hardware 
differences (the same we fight for
the 2.6 kernel): RTC, power button interrupt, proper shutdown so I am not sure 
if any recovery system works
on any machine.

The L400 has some different key definitions in U-Boot. Like that lfn-lsh-Ctrl 
copies the uImage to /dev/mtd1.

I don't know if lsh+lfn+F1 works.

The reason may be that the 2.6 kernel is bigger and the automatic mode of 
U-Boot doesn't copy it completely.
