Hm. The bootstrapped rootfs should already bring up Eth0 (cable). Did it work before? Maybe the router needs some help (DHCP setting, MAC filter?). If that works, you can complete the bootstrap of Debian Lenny (needs to download update/upgrade some files from the net).
