Some birds told me Theo got a hint about a compiler at the FosDem... And yes gcc will be replaced one day... but not now, nor in 3.8... Maybe in 3.9/4.0.. But in the end it's the decission by Theo and all the other developers. I personaly don't care a lot for the compiler (even i would prefere a BSD-Licensed compiler)... but for the drivers (e.g. ath for amd64). And after I bought an ath-base card I noticed why ppl. wanna get ral-based cards... So maybe the Dev-team would be so friendly to write (for 3.8. e.g.?) the archs behind the drivers. And "supported" dosn't mean "supported" for all archs nor all drivers (read the manpages). But that's another topic... So the compiler questions is answered now.. Even I'm not "official" nor a BSD-Developer nor a developer nor a coder... So I hope this compiler-talk will stop now. In my mind I think the compiler Theo is thinking about is nice. but just the time can proof if this compiler could be a replacement for the GCC one day (maybe with a little help from some OpenBSD-Devs? Who knows..). Kind regards, Sebastian
