Hi folks and Naoki,

I have done it... I have installed o'bsd on my production laptop
(fujitsu siemens lifebook p7010) and it seems to work quite nice BUT
for one VERY important thing: screen resolution. It's showing 1024x768
whilst the laptop can reach 1280x768

I was aware of this because in GNU/Linux it's the same but I was
always able to patch it or to use 915resolution... but dmesg shows:

NOT CONFIGURED!

aaaargh!

and of course 915resolution doesn't work!!

In GNU/Linux there is another possibility other than 915resolution;
namely a patch that is working properly on the SAME laptop in NetBSD,
FreeBSD (thanks to Naoki!) and GNU/Linux

But when I try to compile it I get

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
$ gcc -o i8xx_Patch ./1280patch-845g-855gm-865g.c
1280patch-845g-855gm-865g.c:32:20: sys/io.h: No such file or directory
1280patch-845g-855gm-865g.c: In function `main':
1280patch-845g-855gm-865g.c:307: warning: assignment makes pointer
from integer without a cast
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am NOT a C programmer, but it seems that it doesn't find io.h

Can somebody please help me? If this is not working, I am going back
to GNU/Linux, because I need a *nix for both my allday work and life,
and I do not want to burn out my eyes with a wrongly set up screen

I attach the patch...

I'd be a bit of a damp squib to have to go back to GNU/Linux because
of this... please try to help me...

thanks,

Pau
