OMG, have you considered an install script, sdiff and opening sysmerge in a text editor might be handy. Takes longer in the short term and takes a little maintenance itself but means you always have as clean a ship as can be and a great deal of flexibility for upgrades and testing!!! and are almost always moving forwards. One reason I hate windows and linux annoys is cos the devs break all your shit without a thought. OpenBSD devs do responsible things like add a line to rc.local that can disable or enable port rcs. p.s. Anything special to be planned for 5 or just another number.
