Thanks for the update on this - I was about to ask a similar question
myself.

OpenView looks like a good solution, I just wonder why openview/core is not
part of VTK itself.

Any chance gestures like pinch to zoom will be supported by the default
interactor for QmlMitkRenderWindowItem? For the
QmlMitkFourRenderWindowWidget, TapAndHold+Drag to change the layout would
be really cool...

Since Qt Quick renders in a second thread, should we expect to see
potentially better performance than a Qt4 widget-based UI? (Once
the QmlMitkBigRenderLock is replaced with a proper solution)
