You should work on what interests you most or what you need...
Working on things you want/need will help keep you motivated... Right now
I'm working on MP4/M4A support because I have a number of songs I bought
from iTunes that I'd like to play in Mixxx. :D
If you are interested in sound effects you could start by looking at the
LADSPA stuff that was coded into mixxx (
http://mixxx.org/wiki/doku.php/ladspa ). I know its supposed to be some
kind of audio effects plugin architecture, but that's all I know. If you
were to clean that up and make it usable for end-users that would probably
be of great service to the mixxx community at large.
