OK, as I figured, good, thanks. "Infrequently" off by (latency chunk) is 
tolerable for headphone cueing etc.

Yeah, but the other two outs are S/PIDF only, and I honestly cannot find 
any inexpensive S/PIDF to analog converters -- I do find dozens of 
people looking for one though. They seem to come only in larger racked 
gear sets. I just wanna S/PIDF to RCA or XLR dongle or box!

It's all because jackd will talk only to ONE soundcard, period. 
Therefore, all N physical outputs must appear to be one soundcard. An 
ALSA bound collection of cards is apparently fine.
