That's something that I've found rather lacking from the scons developers. A bug I reported 15 months ago is still awaiting a fix. The bug is imo a basic and serious flaw. scons doesn't do the right thing when I set standard environment variables to choose a different compiler. http://scons.tigris.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=1723 So if cmake does that (as make does) it already beats scons in my book. I can't be the only Linux user with more than one version of gcc installed (never mind what happens if I want to use something other than gcc!) Note I had no feedback on the bug at all. The first response to it took 9 months, and all the responses simply set target milestones for fixing it.
