Just to clarify -- you're having 2 issues:
1) Mixxx is not responding to your e2
2) Playback is choppy at any latency, at any samplerate, and with ALSA or
JACK
1 and 2 shouldn't be related as using a MIDI controller doesn't put much
extra burden on Mixxx. Can you check that (2) is still a problem even with
the e2 unplugged?
As for your e2 issue, if it shows up in the MIDI device list, you have to
load the mapping from the Load Mapping dropdown, and then you have to check
the 'Enable' checkbox. Have you already tried that?
