As I recall (I might
have remembered incorrectly) The most effective way to confuse the laser guns
was to take one of those big Hella driving lights that are on Rally cars and
put an infrared pass filter on it and mount it in the grill of the car right
above the license plate. You can't see the light on since the filter is only
allowing infrared light to pass
The theory is right, but I question whether they're enough
power for this to work at any useful range. Remember, the sun gives
off an enormous amount of IR, and the laser guns work in the daytime.
For an unfocused, incoherent source to overload the laser gun's
receiver, it would have to be extremely bright, Maybe a big Hella
would work, but I wouldn't have thought it's bright enough. It would
be fun to try, though. A high power IR laser would also work, but, as
I said before, aiming it properly would be a bitch.
through I also recall they recommended
picking up the filter in Edmund Scientific catalog. Last time I looked the
filters was something like $50. Very intriguing I wish I had the time to try
it out.
Edmund scientific does have some fun stuff! Pick up a large
plastic Fresnel lens, go out on a sunny day, and start melting little
holes in anything you feel like. Just be careful, though!
