The whole point of no replacement for displacement has been missed.  I agree 
a 1.8t motor will be faster than some larger American engines.  But take a 
1.8t motor and increase the displacement to 2.0l.  Keep all of the other 
parameter the same, gearing, boost pressure, cam timing, ignition timing, 
etc., except fuel that's how you get the power. Undoubtedly the 2.0 motor 
will make more power and torque.  It is as simple as that.  But enough on to
