Hello,

I believe there are only 3 computers VW used-
a California emissions model, a "CC" and one other.

The Bentley is completely wrong about what computers
were used- I found that out. I do know you can run a
california emissions computer in any one of the
motronic cars, it will just pull a code, because the
cali cars have an extra EGR, while the 49 state cars
don't. ialso believe that the Cali cars have a
progressive rev limiter, which slowly lowers the rev
limit each time you reach it.

The difference is in the chip, so if you put one in,
(Garret, neuspeed, etc)all the rest is the same.
I fried my computer this summer, and needed a new
one, and the ony thing I found that was reasonably
priced was a Cali, and I bought it. Put my chip in,
and I swear it was FASTER!

anyway, to make a long story short, I believe the
"CC" computer is the one to have, but once chipped,
all motronics are interchangeable, but may not pass
Califormnia emissions.

 thnaks,

    Percy.
