I'm not so sure of that. My '88 GTi 16v cruises at 60MPH, turning
~2800-2900 RPM (This with stock tire sizes). This would give my car a top
speed of ~140MPH. There aren't any hills in Florida to give me that sort of
speed. Wind, on the other hand.......
That number is based on your speedo and tach readings;
neither of which are very accurate or linear. According to the VW
tech data, my '87 GTI 16v (if stock) would hit the rev limiter at
124mph.
