Hmmm, and what car did you use to compare the MXX3's and SP-8k's?
I have a buddy who has a 4 door M3, which came stock with MXX3's. When he
called to ask me advice on what to replace them with, I told him to get the
Bridgestone S-02 Pole Positions, and, last time I spoke to him, he was just
plain amazed at how much better the 'Stones are compared to the MXX3's.
Unfortunately, neither of those tires come in 225/40-16.

Now, as far as the apparently dwindling supply of some sizes of the Dunlop
SP-8000's, Dunlop is building a factory someplace in the southern U.S., and
I heard through the "grapevine" that SP-8000 production will be moved there
from Germany. The assumption is that sizes like 205/45-ZR16 and 225/40-ZR16
will become available again, once production is ramped up. I tend to
believe this since, especially the 205/45-ZR16 is a VERY popular size with
both us 'Dubers, as well as the Rice people.
We can only hope, I guess...
