I've got an extra 1.8l head I'm doing a little work to and I've got
questions for those of you who have head experience (OK, no jokes guys
;-)

How little valve guide can i get away with?  I'd like to grind off
some.  My ideal goal is not to enlarge the ports much but I would like
to lessen or entirely remove the blister around the valve guide along
with the part of the valve guide that protrudes into the port,
especially the intake port.  I've seen this done by some import
tuners... wonder how much is applicable to my head.  It really just
comes down to what the minimum valve guide surface is.

And the other question is about valve wear.  I'm not quite
understanding the Bentley.  I'm assuming I'm going to replace the seats
regardless, but I want to avoid replacing the valves at $25i/$30e a
piece.  What is the wear limit/spec on valves?  If I put in new seats,
is hand lapping enough?

That's plenty to chew on for now.  A HUGE thanks to anyone that can
help with my questions.
