One common classic (esp for VDubs) is to leave a pull
out unit's "box" along with "clipped" wires hanging
out. In other words make it look like it was already
stolen.

Also, the "monster cable" can be stealthed by tying
into the battery cables further back in the original
harness. Or replace the OEM cables with 1/0 guage
"welding" cables. These are probably just as good at
carrying the power as the Monster cables, have a more
oil resistant jacket - and just might be cheaper to
boot. Bury the splice under split loom about 1 foot
back....

Or run a dual battery in the trunk....

One occasional classic I see (less so these days) is a
big loop of chain going through a hole in the hood and
around the bumper.... makes it a bit harder to open
the hood...

But the more the car looks like a "commuter/city" car,
the better.
No wax job.
NOTHING (including trash) on the floor of the car.
CLEAN interior. Dusty is OK.

Here in Philly they have recently instituted the
offical "steal/break-in" this car sticker. City
residents have a registration sticker (a yellow 3"
square) that must be affixed in the rear window of the
vehicle. Vehicles w/o this sticker have the normal
1.5"x0.5" sticker on the license plate. Now its very
easy to tell if a car is a city resident (and unlikely
to have anything in it) or an out of towner (and thus
is worth investigating). Go figure....

This was in response to a persistant theft problem of
the registration stickers (they would clip the corner
off the license plate to get the sticker and I "guess"
glue it on another plate??)

My tax dollars at work...
