no, you dont want it too far back...BTDT.  i would have made a plate,
but i was too lazy.  thats the best way to go though.  if you mount it
to the plastic, you'll lose alot of low end due to the flimsyness of the
grill.  make sure you get the plate snug in the door panel though.  i
was considering cutting a hole in the stock speaker "box", the size of
the speaker.  the front plate of that box is metal though, and i didnt
have the right tools.  something to think about, at least.
