Car was running great for about an hour (driving out to western MA to pick
up the weitec GT kit). An hour in, the car hiccups, and is fine for five
minutes. Then it hiccups and loses power. After a few seconds, it has
normal power again. Gradually, the car stays weak for longer and longer
periods. Eventually it dies. However, I can immediately restart it, and
it runs fine for 10 - 15 seconds, at which point it starts to buck and lose
power again. If I clutch-in, turn off the engine, and turn it back on
again, I get another 10 seconds of OK power. Here was my routine for like
15 miles until I could nurse it to a VW dealership (100 miles from home):
Zoom up to 80 mph...car starts to lose power and coasts down to around 30
mph. Turn off and back on again immediately. Repeat. By the end of the
drive, it was bucking hard enough that I was worried that it would snap an
engine mount. The length of OK running after startup also seemed to be
totally independent of how long the car sat. After sitting an hour, it
still only ran for a few seconds. Now the car is sitting at a VW
dealership out in wilbraham, MA. What should I have them look at? It's
motronic, btw.
