When VW decided to put the anti-drainback valve in the later 9A flange, they relocated a mounting bolt and slightly changed the base configuration. I took pictures of the three different styles of filter flange: Early US, Thermostatic Euro, and late model 9A. Proper netiquette prevents me from posting pictures to the list, but I'd be happy to send a photo to anyone who doubts me on this. I was VERY disappointed not to be able to use the Euro flange, but as it worked out, it was a blessing in disguise- the later flange also has provisions to mount THREE senders- (one of them is blocked off with an allen head screw). So in addition to the 0.3 and 1.8 bar switches, I was able to install the sender for my oil pressure guage right on the flange- without an adapter. As I said earlier, you MAY not be able to use the earlier flange. Be sure which one you have before you order...
