Well, I got my car back today, after talking the dealership down about
$400. The Weitec GT kit I had installed is quite nice. It's definately a
tad lower than the H&R's on my old GTI were...a bit low for my taste. The
wheels (195/55/14) are right in line with the fenders. There's no gap, but
they aren't tucked inside. Control arms are a little past parallel to the
ground, but they're pretty close.
Handling is quite good. Honestly, it's on par with the H&R/bilstein HD
setup that I used to have. It's not quite as predictable feeling as the
SRS springs/bilstein shocks on the jetta, but no worse than the H&R's. The
shocks and springs seem very well matched. It's not harsh, but it is very
well controlled over super uneven pavement. Definately much better than
boges could offer.
For the money, it's a great kit. I personally don't care for the
lowering
side of things, but it's PERFECT for someone that wants a decent ride,
lowered car and low price (around $500). I'd say it's a serious H&R
competator at a lower price. I still like the shine springs better, though.
