so are you being serious or are you joking? thats such a stereotypical
VW guy resopnse that i cant tell if its tounge-in-cheek. and i'm the
king of writing cheeky and having it be interpreted as being serious...

drag racing is no fun when youre running a 15 second car (or slower, as
most VW's are) and that somehow gets translated into requiring no
skill. for most VW guys, its one of those "the more you know, the less
you know you know" type of things. or i suppose you should invert that
in this case. the less you know, the more you think you know, or
something like that.

look at it this way: drag racing requires being quick of the line and
quick, smooth shifts. so does road racing. sometimes getting a good
start can mean 2 or even three positions either way. and we could all
go to the drag strip, and i'll bet most of us could pick up .2-.5
seconds in ONE NIGHT just learning how to shift faster and smoother.
and thats only 2 shifts, perhaps 3.

how many times do you shift in ONE LAP on the track?

i'll also bet most of us couldnt put down three runs within .1 second of
each other.
