nope, and you arent either. LOL...*and* in all seriousness.

hardcore in a different way, mind you. my car is bone stock+chip, and
is THE bad ass of stock VW's. i WILL scare the shit out of you if you
come for a ride in the C, and i'll beat almost all stock VW's (unless
the driver is excellent) and most modified VW's on the drag strip, in
the canyon, or at the autox.

i *am* hardcore at what i do. i *am* no joke. and the best part is, i
get better every time i drive my car.

650.738.9237 for those of you that dont believe me.

i dont drag race cause my car is slow (est. low 15's with a good
driver), my car is my only car, and i cant shift for shit. i'd break
something before i learned something.

there's nothing wrong with that philosophy. 90% of the people on this
list including me agree with you. but its one thing to say "i dont want
to drag race cause i'm a pussy about it and i'll make up some lame
excuse to get myself out of it" (which is, afterall, what you and I and
everyone else are doing) and saying "drag racing takes no skill"...which
is, aferall, what you said.

the only way to be a better driver is to be consistent. when you are
consistent, you REALLY understand what youre doing. when you REALLY
understand what youre doing, you can change some aspect of your driving
wihtout affecting everything else. then when you analyze both methods,
its quite easy to decide which way is better, faster, etc.

drag racing uses that same skill. consistency is everything. and the
little piece of paper you get at the end of every run is a black and
white testament to which driving methods work, and which ones dont.
remember at school when you had to learn all sorts of useless stuff?
the purpose of that was not so much to actually learn the information,
but rather it was to learn how to learn.

so you spend a few bucks on thursday nights to drag race your 17 second
beater (cause we're all to pussy to drag race our "good" cars) learning
how to analyze shift techniques and then improving on them. then you
take that knowledge--that learning process--to the track or the canyon
and use it to analyze and improve your braking technique, your throttle
application, or whatever. so on top of the improved shifting that you
got on thursday night, you are now faster in the turns or quicker on the
throttle or taking a better line through a series, all because you spend
$10 for a night of drag racing.

shuddup and catch me.
in my VW. ;)
